About this course

The IWCF WIPC level 2 and 4 courses have been designed to give well intervention operations personnel a more in-depth understanding of the principles and methods of pressure control related to various well servicing and completions operations. The course will be delivered through interactive lecturing supported by animations, group discussions and desktop exercises.








Audience: Aimed at operations team personnel involved in well completion, wireline, coiled tubing or snubbing operations. Includes (but not limited to):

  • Well-site operations engineers

  • Intervention services crew members

  • Well-site based wireline or slick-line crew members

  • Coiled tubing services crew members

  • Snubbing crew members

  • Well test crew members

  • Pumping and stimulation crew members

  • Production staff/supervisors

  • Crane operators suspending intervention equipment

  • Wellhead maintenance crew

  • Well-site oilfield equipment repair personnel

  • Electric- supervisor and crew

  • Senior well engineers

  • Operational well engineers



  • Level 4 certificates are valid for 2 years

  • Level 2 certifications are valid for 5 years.

The standard of certification in this program is based on the pressure control knowledge required to work as service equipment operators and supervisory personnel. 


Compulsory and optional components: 

This training is made up of separate sets of assessments for the different course levels. Candidates are required to complete two compulsory components and one or more optional components which is made up of multiple-choice questions, well calculations and direct answer questions. To obtain a certificate, candidates must achieve a minimum mark of 70% in each component that they have been nominated for.

The following certification options are available and are made up of compulsory and optional components:

  • Completion Operations (compulsory)

  • Completion Equipment (compulsory)

  • Coiled Tubing Operations (optional)

  • Wireline Operations (optional)

  • Snubbing Operations (optional).
