MSELECT Academy is offering a Performance Management and Conflict Resolution course. Ongoing, two-way dialogue about performance is essential, but initiating these discussions can be challenging for managers and supervisors, as well as for employees. If these conversations are not handled well, they can feel intrusive or even threatening and lead to conflict. Participants in this course will be guided through the performance management cycle, giving difficult feedback, reviews/appraisals, and managing poor performance. Participants will learn and practice how conflict resolution can help make the performance management cycle more meaningful, empowering and productive, by successfully engaging employees, providing feedback in a respectful and non-threatening way, and diffusing confrontational situations. This 4 day course will be held at MSELECT Academy in Erbil.


Course Outcomes:

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Explain their role in managing the performance of their team

  • Describe the key stages in the performance management process

  • Develop techniques to address poor performance

  • Learn, Practice and follow a process for resolving conflict

  • Become more confident in handling interpersonal and common workplace conflict.

  • Find out their own preferred style of resolving conflict and become aware of the different styles of resolving conflict.

  • Follow a step-by-step process of successfully mediating conflict between two parties.


The course is intended for:

  • Managers/Supervisors and team members who are new to the development sector or managerial role;

  • Development sector professionals who intend to work closely with implementation of planning activities and operating procedures development;

  • Consultants/contract staff operating in the development sector


About the Trainer:

Shauna Lee Sexsmith is a INGO program manager, senior consultant with UNITAR, development strategist and process facilitator with ten

years of experience helping develop executive leadership capabilities for the public and private sectors. She has provided advising, and facilitation for international governments, members of parliament, C-Suite executives, and institutions.
