Job Description

MSELECT is looking to hire a Construction Civil Engineer for an international oil operator. Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial construction activities and must speak Kurdish and English. Arabic is considered a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, design, develop, create and maintain small-scale through to large-scale construction projects in a safe, timely and sustainable manner
  • Conduct on site investigations and analyze data (maps, reports, tests, drawings and other)
  • Carry out technical and feasibility studies and draw up blueprints that satisfy technical specifications
  • Assess potential risks, materials and costs
  • Provide advice and resolve creatively any emerging problems/deficiencies
  • Oversee and mentor staff and liaise with a variety of stakeholders
  • Handle over the resulting structures and services for use
  • Monitor progress and compile reports in project status
  • Manage budget and purchase equipment/materials
  • Comply with guidelines and regulations including permits, safety etc and deliver technical files and other technical documentation as required
  • Ensure the implementation of the HSE management system at the site with reference to their area of operation and champion and participate in HSE initiatives;
  • Organize and lead, along with the relevant AST and Superintendent/Supervisors, weekly meetings with the discipline Subcontractors;
  • Participate in periodic construction meetings with the Client;
  • Promote Field revisions of the detailed Construction Schedule;
  • Verify congruity of the works with the technical specification;
  • Align material delivery schedule in order to coordinate construction activities and optimize the construction schedule;
  • With the collaboration of the Site Control Manager and Planning function, prepare detailed schedules and define priorities;
  • Monitor progress and to develop recovery plans to mitigate delays;
  • Co-ordinate all site activities, and in particular interfaces between Disciplines, with the aim of mitigating activity conflicts;
  • Assist and co-operate with the Superintendents in the day-to-day management of subcontracts, in defining and approving extra-works and in the execution of changes during the works;
  • Regularly monitor Subcontractors' performance and take action as necessary;
  • Together with the Commissioning Manager, to ensure congruence between the completion of Construction and Plant Pre-commissioning;
  • Collaborate with the Contract Engineer in preparing changes and claims;
  • Prepare his own section of routine work progress reports;
  • Prepares engineering design by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photographs and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic data
  • Determines project costs by calculating labor, material, and related costs
  • Prepares engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans, and schedules
  • Fulfills project requirements by training and guiding operators.
  • Maintains operations by enforcing project and operational policies and procedures
  • Provides engineering information by answering questions and request

Skills/Requirements:

  • University Degree or Diploma in Civil discipline or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial construction activities;
  • Sound mathematical, scientific and IT skills
  • The ability to think methodically and to manage projects
  • Problem-solving skills Ability to work to deadlines and within budgets
  • Ability to maintain an overview of entire projects while continuing to attend to detailed technicalities
  • Attention to detail, excellent communications and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong interpersonal, team-oriented skills, self-motivation and direction, with a strong bias toward timely performance and problem resolution.
  • Ability to Field trips.
