Job Description


  • Investigate and ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations and procedures as issued by the Bank and regulatory bodies such as the Central Bank of Iraq, and concerning Money-laundering fight, Know Your Customer, Code of Conduct, business ethics and daily operations.
  • Define and measure, in a continuous trend, risks resulting from non-compliance with policies and procedures, including operational and reputation risk.
  • File issued reports in an organized manner and present them to the Central Bank of Iraq (or other regulatory/supervisory bodies) whenever requested.
  • Issue written guidelines/instructions to employees on how to comply with applicable policies and procedures, in coordination with Heads of Departments/Units and Branch Managers.
  • Ensure that Know Your Customer Policy is respected by controlling the accuracy of CIF information.
  • Check Customer’s Status (Blacklisted, defaulting, normal, etc.) and reply to branches’ enquiries before proceeding with the account opening.
  • Receive reports from branch Compliance Officers concerning suspicious operations and make necessary investigations.
  • Represent Byblos Bank Iraq in all Money Laundering contacts (International Institutions, Central Bank…). Receive their demands, analyze them and propose solutions to the Board of Directors and management.
  • Coordinate with concerned parties to gather information on suspicious clients and update the Credit Information accordingly (including filtering Customer Information File (CIF) names against Byblos Bank and other watch lists).
  • Report to the Board of Directors and Audit Committee all suspicious money-laundering matters forwarded to the appropriate investigation commission.
  • Maintain good relations with external parties, especially the Central Bank and other regulatory/supervisory bodies.
  • Give advice to the Board concerning current policies and procedures and keep them updated of any new circulars/amendments to be done.
  • Coordinate with Byblos Bank S.A.L. concerning suspicious transactions, policy violations and any amendment to be done on current procedures and laws.
  • Revise current procedures and research how to ameliorate/update them.
  • Issue periodical reports (or whenever needed) to the Board concerning suspicious operations and violations of applied policies and make recommendations on how to reduce such violations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
