Job Description

Mselect is looking for a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Specialist for one of its major Oil & Gas client in Erbil. The selected candidate will be responsible for strategic development and implementation of the company’s social investment strategy including those focused on the Kurdistan region, as well as the Atrush Block.  Excellent business reading, writing, and speaking skills in Soroni Kurdish and English is required.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides leadership in international best practices in strategic community investment in the oil and gas industry
  • Responsible for day-to-day GCA social investment activities including approvals, management and close-out
  • Works closely with Ministry of Natural Resources CSR department
  • Prepares company’s strategic plan for social investment in the Kurdistan Region and Atrush Block including company’s CSR Five-Year Plan
  • Develops community investment strategies to mitigate impacts associated with company activities
  • Prepares/periodically updates company’s CSR Five-Year Plan and Yearly Social Investment Work Plan
  • Responsible for Small Community Supplies/Materials Grants and Local Community Investment process/procedures
  • Promotes and maintains positive relations with communities where Company does business
  • Represents the highest ethical standards in compliance with anti-corruption requirements of company, the British Anti-Corruption Act, and Iraq law

JOB DIMENSIONS

Governmental and Community Relations and Partnerships

  • Works closely with Ministry of Natural Resources CSR department
  • Develop positive and robust relationships with relevant community members, community leaders, and other key stakeholders as necessary and based upon the coordination and in alignment with TAQAs strategic operations and at Manager’s direction
  • Develops partnerships for program implementation within government, small business, as well as local, regional, and national Non-Governmental Organization’s
  • Local Content
  • Design capacity building strategies as appropriate to fully execute projects as per TAQA  requirements
  • Work with relevant departments and contractors/subcontractors to maximize local content initiatives

Project Implementation

  • Responsible for management of TAQAs Community Investment Committee
  • Identifies range of potential projects for consideration.
  • Following approval, responsible for implementation of agreed social projects by monitoring, documenting, and reporting progress
  • Manage any non-governmental organizations (NGOs), contractors, or consultants working including preparation of scope of work, daily oversight and assessment of time and progress as per budget; reviews/comments approves deliverables
  • Work closely with internal teams to facilitate programs/projects as they are implemented
  • Design exit strategies should the need arise to change partners that are not able to execute on plans

Strategies, Plans, and Processes

  • Develops and periodically updates Company’s overall strategic Social Investment Strategy
  • Prepares/periodically updates TAQAs CSR Five-Year Plan
  • Prepares and implements TAQAs approved Yearly Social Investment Work Plan
  • Responsible for Small Community Supplies/Materials Grants and Local Community Investment process/procedures

Awareness and Training

  • Interfaces with managers and others as per methods/proposal to facilitate/enhance community development, training and education and capacity building within development effort
  • Promotes awareness of importance of TAQA strategic social investment strategies within and outside Company through written and face-to-face discussion
  • Attends meetings and conferences relevant to investment objectives
  • Provides in-house training

Work Location

  • Regularly works out of offices in Duhok and in the Atrush Block
  • Personnel Management
  • Works with GCA Mangers to facilitate staff activities for program implementation
  • Provides inputs into other staff performance reviews as appropriate

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Prepares relevant portion of yearly departmental budget
  • Tracks CSR budget against plan and provides required inputs into monthly accounting/review requirements
  • Prepared weekly and monthly reports as required
  • Attends meetings as required
  • Other tasks as assigned
  • Prepares presentations, position papers for GCA Manager
  • Additional duties as assigned from time to time by the GCA Manager to meet business needs including personal training and development opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA equivalent and 5-10 years’ relevant experience
  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Fluent speaking English and Kurdish
  • Excellent business reading/writing skills in Soroni Kurdish
  • Intermediate level English speaking/reading/writing skills or better
  • Fluent speaking and intermediate level English reading/writing skills required
  • Ability to speak/write in Bhadini Kurdish

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in community investment, community relations, project management, public affairs, or other
  • Demonstrated ability to work with local communities, relevant stakeholders, proven delivery of projects/programs; and experience in Kurdistan working at the local level
  • Experience working in oil and gas or similar industry
  • Technical knowledge of upstream development in oil and gas

ADDITIONAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent communication, project management skills, leadership and interpersonal skills required; computer skills a must including data management, technical reporting, and project management software skills
  • Ability to influence in a persuasive manner that is consistent with building relationships and maintaining relevant working objectives consistent with the operational strategy and overarching guidelines/values of the corporation
  • Awareness of/ and sensitive to cultural differences and how this builds long-term relationships and positive community relations is a must
  • Proven track record of stakeholder engagement and/or social programs/project development, design and implementation
