Job Description

Our client, an international oilfield services provider, is looking for an expert Electrical Engineer with a minimum of 10 years’ oil field or associated petrochemical industries experience to be responsible for all electrical maintenance and engineering aspects of Static and Rotating Equipment. The successful candidates will be chosen to work on a rotation pattern of 4 weeks on 4 weeks off in their operation site in Badra, Iraq.                                                                                                                       

Abilities, Duties and Responsibilities              

  • Manage and lead an electrical maintenance and engineering team
  • Projects’ responsible person for all electrical maintenance and engineering aspects of Static and Rotating Equipment types which include, but are not limited to:
  • Substations including (but not limited to) Uninterruptable Power Supply, etc.
  • Diesel and Gas  Power Generation Packages
  • Emergency Diesel Power Generator for black start and emergency power supply of critical and vital consumers in case of shut down of main generator with associated facilities.
  • Variable Speed Drive and Soft Starters if required;
  • Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) System
  • Overall Electrical System, including (but not limited to) street lighting, earthing, low resistance, lightning protection, floodlight mast, other relevant facilities and devices
  • Ensure weekly electrical maintenance schedules are executed to plan
  • Author the electrical section in the weekly and monthly project reports
  • Work with the CMMS Engineer to ensure that maintenance routines are accurate and justified and team file completion reports as appropriate
  • Appraise and update preventative maintenance routines in
  • CMMS as applicable
  • Take part in audits, inspections and safety observation tours.
  • Providing clear direction to overcome or design out electrical issues.
  • Review critical electrical spares holdings
  • To be fully conversant with the technical documentation as applicable to electrical discipline that was handed over by & contractor
  • Ensure that all electrical technical documentation required for maintenance is available or is resourced through OEM’s or vendors
  • Review MOC’s for technical accuracy and delivery and execute as directed
  • Provide direction to team on priority of work
  • Provide answers to technical queries related to an electrical discipline
  • Guide and coach Sub-contract personnel on maintenance and best practices
  • Assess, mentor on competency / implement training needs of electrical discipline personnel.
  • Monitor electrical equipment performance and drive continuous improvement in plant and personnel
  • Be conversant with project KPI’s and support their delivery and attainment at all times
  • Ensure good knowledge of the project contract
  • Partake in, or cooperate with; internal or external audits respectively
  • Attend the weekly management meeting
  • Compile or receive detailed written Handover prior to; and completion of leave and/or field breaks
  • Carry out HSE and technical audits and inspections as directed by Project Manager
  • Compile / distribute comprehensive reports as necessary
  • Strong HSE awareness
  • Working knowledge of engineering design, standards and codes
  • Provide clarity on electrical issues for root cause analysis studies
  • Part of the Management of Change (MoC) team

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes   

  • English: verbal, reading and writing in line with the job expectation
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering with at least eight (8) years’ experience in the Petrochemical Industry
  • Preferably COMPEX qualified (or equivalent qualification)
  • Demonstrates knowledge of relevant standards and regulations
