Job Description

MSELECT is hiring a Junior Contracts Engineer for an international oil and gas operator in Erbil. Candidate must have minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience and fluency in English and Kurdish is a must.


  • Supports the contracts management activities of company operations in Kurdistan.

  • Office-based position in Erbil, Kurdistan with travel to company bases and field operations as required.

  • Supports tendering and procurement processes in accordance with company and MNR requirements.

  • Ensures company compliance with MNR procurement policies & procedures in accordance with the PSC.

  • Ensures due diligence and FCPA requirements are incorporated and followed in all Contracting activities.


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience supporting oil company operations in a contracts management role. Candidate will ideally have experience working for an international oil company or oil service company and have experience supporting oil company operations in Kurdistan.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as a member of a team.

  • Preferably educated to degree level, in an appropriate field.

  • Proficient in the development and management of filing and document control systems.

  • Proficient in the use of main Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.

  • Commercially astute with proven negotiation and contract drafting skills.

  • Fluent in English, both written and oral.

  • Proven experience in contracts administration processes and procedures including but not limited to contract drafting, change management and correspondence control.

  • Proven experience in all aspects of the tendering and procurement process including but not limited to development of Request for Quotations (RFQ’s) and Invitations to Tender (ITTs) and ability to demonstrate experience and understanding on how to develop both technical and commercial evaluation scoring tables.


  • Supports pre and post award contracts activities including but not limited to the following;

  • Tendering process,

  • correspondence drafting,

  • contract interpretation to support appropriate stakeholders,

  • drafting of small contracts and job orders

  • change control

  • attendance of progress meetings and taking meeting minutes in English

  • liaising with other departments for bid evaluation, development of tenders, evaluation of tenders and other contractual issues required to administer the contract after award.

  • Maintain database and filing systems to a high standard to ensure document retrievability for both internal and audit purposes.

  • Management of databases for tracking contract renewals

  • Processing due diligence requirements with vendors on behalf of company and maintaining the appropriate databases.
