Job Description

A leading university in Erbil is looking for a Lecturer/Assistant/Associate Professor in Biochemistry to join their team and contribute to the growth of the university. PhD or equivalent in Biochemistry and a minimum of two years of teaching experience in higher education and research is required.
  • Teach assigned classes in Psychology to first year medical students.
  • Plan, develop and deliver Undergraduate modules in areas related to Psychology.
  • Assess student academic achievement and ensure they have the opportunity to be engaged and challenged.
  • Update course materials including; updating syllabi according to course objectives for any courses assigned.
  • Carry out research and scholarly activities in the areas related to Psychology, ensuring that research outcomes are relevant and applicable to key areas of teaching and benefit the Kurdistan Region.
  • Contribute, where appropriate, to the knowledge transfer, income generation and consultancy activities of the University.
  • Develop new and revise existing undergraduate programmes.
  • Administrate, including student recruitment, student support and marketing.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and others in relation to student recruitment and marketing initiatives.
  • Maintain office hours for student advisement and counseling.
  • Participate in School meetings and activities.
  • Supervise and instruct students in Psychology.
  • Assist the Dean in developing internal and external communities that promote the major field of study and the University.
  • Comply with all School and University policies.
  • Receive, understand and convey complex conceptual ideas or complex information.
  • PhD or equivalent in Psychology.
  • Minimum two years of teaching experience in Higher Education and research.
  • A strong knowledge of the subject area combined with a broad subject background enabling contributions to teaching modules in Psychology.
  • The ability to teach across curriculum and to deliver specialist options.
  • Evidence of ability to teach and to supervise academic work.
  • Commitment to pastoral care and the student experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven record of ability to manage time and work to strict deadlines.
  • The qualification of being fluent in English Language (Reading, Writing and Speaking).
  • Good administrative and networking skills.
  • Sound planning and organizational skills, able to (re)prioritize work and plan/schedule workdays ahead.
  • The ability to contribute to the management of programmes, the effective work of the team and assist/guide colleagues as required.
