MSELECT is looking to hire a Project Controls Advisor for an international oil client in Erbil. 10+ years’ experience working in the industry. 5+ years of construction or project execution scheduling, fluency in Kurdish and English is required.

Job Purpose 

The Project Controls position is a dedicated company representative (CR) for an oil and gas project north of Erbil. This position will be responsible for the construction schedule, progress tracking and reporting to the project supervision. The CR will work closely with the cost estimating and control advisor to validate reported progress of the construction activities.


  • Review of Contractors’ baseline schedules; confirm schedules are complete, include the full contract work scope and contains the level of detail required by the respective contract.  Ensure schedules clearly identify key interface points contractors and company provided work scope and/or material or information requirements.  Identify key concerns with both Field Execution and Houston based CEPS team. 

  • Lead review and tracking of progress reporting; review schedules, progress and % complete for updates contained in bi-weekly and monthly reports and confirm veracity through a combination of field verification and validation (V&V) visits and through consultation with Field Execution team members who travel to site daily.   Provide input on contractor progress for roll-up in project monthly reporting.  Track progress of Owners Team led activities (Cabins and IT/CCTV equipment installation).

  • Identify schedule key areas of concern; proactively identify areas of concern, schedule exposure and overrun risk to allow informed mitigation decision and actions.  Work with other team members (both in field and international locations) to communicate recommendations to project leadership and participate in CE-MoC process and drawdown of schedule contingency.

  • Supports Cost Control; Works closely with Field Execution Cost Control team member to confirm Value of Work Done (VOWD) is consistent with progress claimed in Contractors’ invoicing.  Support Project Contracting and Cost Control with estimate changes and claims.

Job requirement 

  • Degree in Engineering or Business required

  • Must speak English & Kurdish.

  • 10+ years’ experience working in the industry. 5+ years of construction or project execution scheduling.

  • Working knowledge of schedule development, progress tracking (actual v forecast), reporting and the integration of multiple schedules.

  • Knowledge of onshore facility construction experience preferred.

  • Must have working knowledge of Primavera scheduling software and the use of key software programs (Word, excel, PowerPoint, MS project, etc).

  • Must be competent in use of multiple scheduling software (i.e. MS Project) and be able to import schedules into Primavera.

  • The candidate must have the ability to work independently.

  • Candidate should understand the cost engineering and control function of project controls.
