Job Description

MSELECT is looking to hire a Treatment Section Field Operator for an international oil and gas operator in Basrah. Candidates must have advanced interpersonal and communication skills with an exposure to production operations. Arabic and English fluency is a must.

Role Purpose

  • To ensure hands-on assistance to Ops coordinator in overseeing routine operations of equipment pertaining to QA1 Treatment section including Water Intake, 1st LP station, Chemicals Building, Mixers, Settlers and Hypo injection stations but also during Ad-hoc activities that are taking place from time to time
  • The position will also play a role in promoting Operation Discipline amongst the client Shift Operation Teams

Key Responsibilities

  • Record instantaneous and totalized flows from FE 101 and FE 102 (twice a shift)
  • Record pumps on duty in first Lift pumps station
  • Sample the coagulant solution and take Specific Gravity
  • Record number of coagulant pumps on duty, their speed and perform a drop test to record the flow: twice per shift.
  • Repeat task above for Polymer
  • Record number of on duty settlers/chambers
  • Sample common settlers outlet and measure turbidity, apparent color and TSS
  • Measure level of sludge in each chamber using sludge detector
  • Record which chambers has been cleaned 
  • Collaborate and coordinate with client shift operations to acquire information, adjust chemical dosage and/or correct any anomaly
  • Collect samples and conduct tests and/or take to laboratory
  • Confirm Hypo is injected at the required dose in all hypo dosing stations
  • Check water level in chambers to prevent overflow (twice a day and on demand)
  • Ensure pumps strainers are cleaned by client operators
  • Oversee cleaning of chambers
  • Oversee preparation of chemical solution
  • Oversee Trash Gates cleaning (twice a week)
  • Report leaks, valves and pumps issues
  • Operate routinely submersible pumps in chambers
  • May from time to time conduct stroke checks of valves
  • Take water or chemical samples and hand to the lab as requested from time to time
  • Conduct onsite lab tests of water samples (NTU, Free Chlorine)
  • Oversee special activities conducted on equipment

Role Requirements

  • University Graduates preferred, but not essential
  • Interpersonal and communication skills are critically important
  • Exposure to production operations preferably in water plants
  • Capable of working autonomously, and organizing time and resource to achieve work deliverables to defined standards
  • Personal behavior and work ethic that lead by example
  • Good HSE awareness and safety behavior and skills
  • Good knowledge of Control of Work systems and associated procedures
