Mselect is urgently looking for a Welding Inspector for one of the major oil operators in Kurdistan with below details:

Job Description


Primary Purpose 

  • Performs shop inspections to determine acceptance and/or rejection of work performed in a variety of disciplines in compliance with applicable Codes, Standards and/or specifications.  
  • Monitors production rate, delays, overall fabrication schedule to report progress and forecast milestones.
  • Creates and completes standard weekly report form that outlines the CWI’s weekly activities and Fabricator’s progress (weld inches and/or spools completed versus remaining).
  • Witnesses and signs-off the following milestones (hold points) for each skid package:
  • May provide technical input.
  1. Closing of vessel – Insuring correct installation of vessel internals.
  2. PWHT – For both vessels and piping.
  3. Hydrotests – For both vessels and piping.
  4. Final Assembly Check/FAT

Principle Duties and Responsibilities –

  • Receives and reviews shop inspection documentation packages. Contacts Company’s Project Engineers to determine any unique technical requirements or concerns prior to initiating inspection.
  • Coordinates work schedule with Fabricator in support of project schedules and Fabricator’s fabrication/testing schedules to maximize inspection efficiencies.
  • Conducts shop inspections in accordance with project requirements, codes and standards, inspection packages and requests.  These inspections could include: pre-fabrication meetings; in-process inspections; witnessing factory acceptance tests; Q.C. documentation reviews; final inspections, and/or pre-shipment inspections.  Inspections may include welding inspections, dimensional examinations, equipment alignment inspections, coating examinations and Non-Destructive Testing or oversight of testing by Fabricator or other third parties.
  • Performs receipt inspections of goods at Fabricator’s facilities to determine compliance with requirements, verifies certified material test records.
  • Verifies shop welding and welding documentation, applied coatings and linings, meets code and specification requirements including review of Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) documentation.
  • Advises issues discovered during the inspection that could jeopardize the safety, integrity or acceptance of the items inspected.
  • Determines any non-conformances, participates in corrective actions, and ensures appropriate resolution and documentation occur.
  • Prepares, reviews and/or generates records, reports, correspondence, and other documentation as required in the performance of the work, including identifying and assessing improvement opportunities.
  • Individual contributor with no subordinates.  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years experience employed as a weld inspector.
  • Minimum 3 years experience employed as a weld inspector on projects adhering to ASME B31.3, NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, NACE SP0472 and ASME PWHT requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or geographical equivalent qualification preferred.
  • BA in Engineering or Construction or equivalent international qualification in a related discipline degree preferred.
  • Training: Working towards certification in discipline (e.g.: American Welding Society (AWS), Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Institute for Supply Management (ISM)) or relevant geographical equivalent certification.
  • Experience as QA/QC Manager would be preferred.
