The IADC WellSharp Supervisor Level Well Control course is essential training for those working in wellsite supervisory roles and for office-based personnel that are primarily involved in the operational decision-making process and/or well design. The course aims to build on the Driller Level course content (including kick detection and shut-in) and focus on more complex aspects of well control and well kill methodology.
The IADC WellSharp “Well Control for Drilling Operations – for Supervisors” course has been designed for toolpushers, drilling engineers, drilling supervisors, superintendents, drilling foremen, company men and others with a requirement to hold an accredited well control certificate at Supervisory level. The training is role-specific and is focused on well kill procedures.
This course covers a blend of both theoretical and practical training in Well Control to ensure you walk away knowing industry best practice when it comes to blow out prevention (BOP)
IADC Well Control covers:
Introduction to Well Control
Kill warning signs and indicators
Fracture pressure and maximum surface pressure
Well control methods
Well control management
Choke manifold and chokes
BOP control systems
Causes of kicks
Shut in procedures
Well control during casing and cementing operations
Associated well control equipment
Simulator training, exercises and assessment
The course is delivered over 5 days through the presentation of a series of interactive lectures supported by videos and animations, supplemented by a classroom workbook and further self-study exercises and practical work on a drilling simulator.
Under the WellSharp programme and unlike IWCF training, IADC Supervisor Level candidates are taught completely separately from IADC Driller Level candidates and will not be in a mixed class. The course ends with an assessment on the final day which will be administered by IADC and invigilated by an independent proctor.
instructors have been handpicked from a global stage and have successfully implemented other drilling programs.
