MSELECT is hiring a Development Planning Engineer for an international oil and gas operator in Basrah. Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years of experience in reservoir engineering and be fluent in English.
 
JOB OBJECTIVE
Develop detailed long and short-term development plans for Subsurface department, assists in preparing WP&B in coordination with Subsurface Sections. Coordinate with Drilling, Well Services and Production Operations plans for new drilling locations, well tie-ins and production infrastructure improvements to meet the production forecast. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring and tracking of projects progress and writing up reports, drawing up work schedules and budgets, analyzing project specifications. Prepare value of work done (VOWD), invoices forecast and prepare subsurface reports (monthly, quarterly & annually) and communicating with Planning, Finance, and other relevant departments of the organization.
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Utilize production, engineering and financial data to develop projects type curves and build well & field forecasts
  • Monitoring and tracking projects progress and writing up reports
  • Embedding and adhering to development planning processes in the organization
  • Participating in development planning process forum
  • Support the Annual Review of Petroleum Resources
  • RE input to generate and update the Reservoir Management Plan
  • Assist the Subsurface Manager in the development of 5 years plans in cooperation with Subsurface Sections
  • Coordinate with different subsurface sections to gather information (budgets, project plans) and contribute to the development of annual WP&B for Subsurface as pre-defined by management
  • Review collated information & develop and maintain baseline plans and schedules using appropriate scheduling/planning software
  • Initiate schedule analysis and study of problematic areas to determine criticality of scheduled activities. Recommend alternatives for schedule improvement, discussion and/or decision
  • Liaise with all subsurface sections, as required, to ensure awareness of schedule activities, their status, and their impact on the master schedule and personnel requirements
  • Liaise with cost discipline to ensure accurate and timely control and forecasting of budgets and ensure that the impact of all change requests is properly assessed and included in the schedule
  • Monitor overall schedule progress, achievement of major milestones, and analyses performance in relation to planned performance
  • Produce and issue updates to plans and schedules and fulfill reporting requirements
  • Assess and communicate schedule impact of any changes
  • Attend internal progress and performance status meetings as required
  • Compile information and develop periodic reports as required and distribute to the relevant parties.
  • Reviewing and preparing Meeting Minutes
  • Tracking of the projects and prepare required reports: Daily, Weekly & Monthly Reports
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Well services, Drilling, Facilities, Production & Operation departments
  • In cooperation with Subsurface Sections prepare Value of Work Done (VOWD), invoice forecast and Budget Performance Report (BPR) and share with finance & planning departments
  • Track Department KPI progress and inform Subsurface Managers and Section Heads about progresses and gaps

  • Follow all relevant company’s health, security, safety and environmental policies, processes, procedures and instructions to ensure Health and Safety compliance in all aspects of work by applying them on self, others and corporate assets.
People & Contractor Management
  • Support in technical evaluation and verification of contractors’ pre-qualification documents and assessment of each contractors' capabilities, to ensure selection of appropriately qualified contractors at the optimum price and required standards
  • Provide specialized support during the execution of contracts to ensure that both contracting parties fulfill their obligations

  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for the continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices to increase productivity and operational efficiency
  • Implement all relevant policies, processes, procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
Reporting
  • Contribute to the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet Reservoir Engineering section requirements, policies and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Petroleum/ Chemical/ Reservoir engineering. A Master’s degree in reservoir engineering would be preferred
Minimum Experience:
  • Minimum 8 years of related O&G; sector experience
  • Excellent reporting and presentation skills
  • Excellent time-management and workload prioritization
  • Significant experience in reservoir engineering methods as well as a good understanding of material balance analysis, fluid characterization, SCAL data interpretation, well-test interpretation, well performance and production forecasting
  • Experienced user of industry standard software, e.g. Prosper, MBAL, PVTp or PVTi, Saphir, and Eclipse & Petrel RE
  • Experienced in risk/uncertainty analysis and development of mitigation strategies
  • Experienced in field development and depletion planning
  • Experienced in reserves estimation
  • Peer Assist/Review experience
  • Independent and able to work with minimum supervision.
