MSELECT is looking to hire a Lifting Supervisor for an oil and gas services client in Kurdistan. The ideal candidate must have at least 10 years of experience, be certified for at least 5-6 years, and be fluent in English, Kurdish, and Arabic.
JOB OBJECTIVE
The Lifting equipment are regular cranes with heavy lifting capacity, the ideal candidate is not going to operate the lifting machines, he will supervise the activity and make sure it is performed within the safety conditions set by the client. The area of the lifts are very tight and machine movements are very limited in space so the Lifting supervisor will be in charge of monitoring the whole activities and stopping any sort of unsafe activities. Some heavy weight compressors up to 90 tons will be lifted on top of live gas lines so this Lifting Supervisor job is very critical and must be fully aware of the site plans and drawings.
Responsibilities:
- Multi-tasking for covering lifting supervisor position when needed
- Aware of lifting operations standards and procedures
- Knowledge of mechanical lifting plan, lifting equipment and gears
- Lift plans and method statements for the lifting operation and developed as appropriate
- Appropriate protection measures are put in place
- A current thorough examination and/or test record has been issued and is available for each item of lifting equipment and accessory
- The SWL of the lifting equipment and accessories is adequate for the weight of the load
- All lifting accessories are clearly marked with their safe working load
- Correct and up-to-date copies of the Sling Chart and Safe Working Load tables are available, when using multi-leg slings
- All personnel involved in the lifting operation have been briefed and understand the risks, methods or work and the equipment to be used including emergency arrangements
- The appropriate permissions have been gained if it is necessary to position any crane on the confined space (or other public place) to carry out lifting operations
- The crane will be capable of lifting the required loads at the maximum required radius of operation
- The weight of each load is known, and that the correct lifting accessories are available
- Check that there are no restrictions on the access, i.e. check size(s) of vehicles for rigging/derigging
- All necessary precautions with regards to live overhead electric cables have been taken
- Check that there is a rescue plan in place and that it is acceptable in terms of practicality
- Check the competency, including training and qualifications, of the competent person involved in lifting operations
- Strictly follow Health & Safety guidelines set by their superiors at all times
- To ensure work is executed in a safe manner and in accordance with instructions given to them by their superiors
Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years in supervision of lifting activities of heavy weight compressors 300 ton plus
- Knowledgeable in ISO 9001:2008; ISO 14001:2004; OHSAS 18001:2007; NEBOSH
- Excellent knowledge of HSE Legislation
- Duration 2-3 months possibly more pending on the arrival of the compressors
- Fluency in English, Kurdish and Arabic is required
