Job Description

Mselect is currently looking for an Instrument Engineer with minimum of 10 years’ oil field or associated petrochemical industries experience to manage and lead an instrument and control maintenance and engineering team Projects and responsible for all Instrument Maintenance and Engineering aspects. The successful candidates will be chosen to work on a rotation pattern of 4 weeks on 4 weeks off in their operation site in Badra, Iraq.

Abilities, Duties and Responsibilities              

  • Manage and lead an instrument and control maintenance and engineering team
  • Projects’ Responsible Person for all Instrument Maintenance and Engineering aspects on the Badra Site
  • Ensure weekly instrument maintenance schedules are executed to plan
  • Author the instrument section in the weekly and monthly project reports
  • Work with the CMMS Engineer to ensure that maintenance routines are accurate and justified and team file completion reports as appropriate
  • Appraise and update preventative maintenance routines in CMMS as applicable
  • Take part in audits, inspections and safety observation tours. Providing clear direction to overcome or design out mechanical issues.
  • Review critical instrument spares holdings
  • Be fully conversant with the technical documentation available from E & C contractor pertaining to instrument equipment
  • Ensure that all instrument technical documentation required for maintenance is available or is resourced through OEM’s or vendors
  • Review MOC’s for technical accuracy and delivery and execute as directed
  • Provide direction to team on priority of work
  • Provide answer to technical queries related to an instrument discipline
  • Guide and coach Sub-contract personnel on maintenance and best practices
  • Assess, mentor on competency / implement training needs of instrument discipline personnel
  • Monitor mechanical equipment performance and drive continuous improvement in plant and personnel
  • Be conversant with project KPI’s and support their delivery and attainment at all times
  • Ensure good knowledge of the project contract
  • Partake in, or cooperate with; internal or external audits respectively
  • Attend the weekly management meeting
  • Compile or receive detailed written Handover prior to; and completion of leave and/or field breaks
  • Carry out HSE and technical audits and inspections as directed by Project Manager
  • Have a full awareness of the Company Code of Conduct and Business Ethics.
  • Compile / distribute comprehensive reports as necessary
  • Working knowledge of engineering design, standards and codes
  • Provide clarity on instrument issues for root cause analysis studies

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes 

  • English: verbal, reading and writing in line with the job expectation
  • 10+ years’ experience in Petrochemical or Oil and Gas project/operations on a major project
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in an Instrument Engineering.
  • Proven leadership ability
  • Can create systems to track and improve maintenance operations
  • Good knowledge of CMMS, preferably some SAP exposure
  • Excellent HSE appreciation and awareness
  • Willingness to work and foster good working relationships in an integrated team from diverse locations
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent written and oral English is essential, supported by good report writing ability
