mselect is looking to hire an Agro Local Field Manager for an FMCG client in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Fluency in English, Arabic and Kurdish is a must.

Job Objective
Responsible for monitoring, developing, and ensuring the plant local potato volumes and managing potato quality, supporting the plants to achieve finished product quality targets and co-ordinate with farms and purchasing on the quality delivers, strategic plan for potato and seed, and long & short-term deals.

Accountabilities
  • Forecast demand and create local supplies plans that ensure the availability of quality potatoes throughout the year as per production planning schedules
  • Manage Potato supply from field to production to meet production requirements (Volume, Timeline, Quality, Flavour) with optimum cost
  • Manage CAPEX, and project to serve local potato growing
  • Ensuring identification and thereafter sustaining uninterrupted local supplies of Potato for the plant
  • Identify/ create/ develop/ grow/ sustain new as well as existing local agro contract/non-contract farming pockets
  • Training and mentoring of farmers, including best practices related to sustainable agriculture
  • Developing agriculture schedules, budgets, and schedules
  • Take samples and test for nutritional deficiencies, diseases, or other changes
  • Developing better planting, planting, and harvesting techniques, and improving crop yields
  • Visiting agricultural fields, diagnosing and treating diseases, and inappropriate agricultural methods
  • Acting as primary contact point for local farmers/ vendors, obtaining technical guidance, and conducting quality checks
  • Identify the new local vendors/ pockets that would complement/ supplement the existing plan and increase penetration of the program and create opportunities to increase quality and quantity
  • Maintain an ongoing relationship with the farmers, and suppliers
  • Get agreements signed off by local vendors
  • Drive the Agro capability development agenda for the agro region – driving the agro-technological knowledge sharing and competency building within the team
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with the plan vs actual
  • Follow up with farmers in outside fields

Requirements
  • Deep Agronomy knowledge (experience with potato)
