JOB OBJECTIVE
The job holder is responsible, within the team and under the Early Work Package Leader and report to Construction Superintendent during the Early Works execution phase, for coordination, validation of resources, monitoring, supervising the overall construction activities within assigned area as carried out by the EPC Contractor (and Subcontractors) at the worksite. The job holder ensures that all HSSE, Quality and Technical contractual requirements are duly applied by EPC Contractor and all Subcontractors on the construction site.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working closely with the CTR supervisor (his/ her counterpart) to ensure HSE, quality and progress requirements are met
- Supervise civil works including civil material approvals, concrete mix design, concrete batch plant quality check and approval of borrow pits etc. to ensure adherence with project objectives, requirements, specifications, standards, procedures and execution plans
- Supervise Early setup of civil works such as setting out survey of the site, identification of resources and good planning and organizational skills that enable a civil supervisor to figure out the number of workers needed for a project, how to organize time, and the most effective way to get things done
- Supervising the use of machinery and equipment
- Guaranteeing and implementing safety precautions while also ensuring that quality standards are met
- Provide assistance during construction to resolve any technical issues arising
- Ensure the scope of work and technical drawings are implemented and that all work is in conformity to standards and specifications
- A working knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory specifications
- Maintain close communication with Superintendent, Construction Manager, Deputy Construction Manager etc to ensure any mitigation plans are correctly impalement by EPC Contractor
- Experienced in reviewing and approving construction method statements including earthwork, concrete works, structural works etc
- Will be management teams eyes and ears on the worksite
- Responsible to take to lead and direct earthworks and geotechnical activities. Responsible to Provide technical assurances to all aspects of earthworks, from excavation, subgrade preparation to fill material selection and compaction
- Responsible to Interpret soil classification and geotechnical reports
- The job holder is also accountable for demonstrating, individually, an exemplary behaviour with regard to HSE, ethics and “code of conduct”
ACTIVITIES
- Inspecting construction sites frequently and ensuring that manpower and resources are adequate
- Collaborative work with other professionals working on the projects
- Prepare and provide daily productivity status to management team
- Be able to read and correct interpretation of construction drawings
- Excellent multitasking skills, since a civil supervisor gets demands from several directions and he must prioritize what to give his attention to
- Must be able to work outdoors for an extended period
- Plans required work activities to ensure that tools, equipment, and materials are available
- Ensure and follow up completion and clearance of all Punch List items
- Review and endorse red marked up and "as built" drawings
- Check, inspect and test completed project work in close coordination with other discipline supervisors and arrange appropriate pre-commissioning inspections and tests
- Participate in hand-over and acceptance, review commissioning procedures and participate in the commissioning of facilities
- Attend daily EPC Contractor site briefing (TBT)
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- A working knowledge of the fundamental requirements of civil engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields
- A working knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory specifications
- Experienced in review and approve construction method statements, earthwork method statements, material submittals etc. until handover to end users
- Expert in civil works supervision such as civil material approvals, concrete mix design, concrete batch plant quality check and approval of borrow pits etc
- Have comprehensive knowledge of the construction industry which enables a civil supervisor to be comfortable with the utilization of construction tools;
- Mandatory experience in a similar position: 5+ Years
- Qualification: Qualifications in Civil Engineering or any other related field
- Professional experience: 10 years minimum
- Excellent knowledge in civil works & earthworks, infrastructures, engineering, construction, installation, commissioning
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural business environment
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Language: Arabic as mother tongue and Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
- Recent Working experience in Iraq will be an added advantage
