mselect is looking to hire a Community Relations Coordinator for an international energy client in Basra, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate all engagement with community members
  • Organize engagements local stakeholders (Authorities, Communities, Civil society)
  • Support the land Access team in their field activities to acquire access to land and implement the livelihood restoration plan
  • Deploy processes and tools to implement and track social performance (checklists, audits templates, etc.)
  • Identify direct and indirect risks to project activities Project
  • Ensures that local stakeholders are appropriately informed of the ongoing and future operational activities
  • Verify information to be communicated by Community Liaison Officers (CLO) to local stakeholders during. preliminary works such as field surveys (Geotechnical and Geophysical) and social studies such as Environmental Social Health Impact Assessment (ESHIA) Resettlement Action
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement, land access, compensation and livelihood restoration, and report grievances
  • Ensures concerns, questions and expectations raised by local stakeholders are collected by the CLOs and logged into the Stakeholder Management Software (Borealis)
  • Expands Social risk management to ensure effective identification and resolution of high-risk social issues
  • Coordinates the design and implement the social monitoring tools for field activities and contractor interface
  • Ensures community grievances (collected by CLOs) are recorded and transmitted to the Community Grievance

  • Identifies unanticipated impacts, report these to hierarchy along with the proposed mitigation measures
  • Identifies possible opportunities to support initiatives benefiting local communities and communicates them to the Social Investment team
  • Implement audit procedures that facilitate the lenders advisor audits and ensure continuous resolution of all findings and non-compliance for financed Sub-project (Solar) if confirmed
  • Ensures compliance to mandatory social performance reporting requirements across all GGIP activities and contractors
  • Coordinates with the Environmental team, the development, update and implementation of an ESMS induction programme which will be used to train all field-based Staff and Contractors
Reporting:
  • Reporting required on system as per Company Internal Procedure for the job

REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree in Community Development/ Sustainability/ Anthropology/ Sociology, Social Sciences, Social work, Development studies ore related field
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the design and implementation of local development program either for an international development Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) or agency or within the industry
  • Advanced project management skills and experience
  • Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills (Oral and Written) with the ability to work under pressure
  • Good understanding of economic, political and social issues of the country
