mselect is looking to hire an ESP Application Engineer for an international oil & gas operator in Basrah. Candidates must have a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. English and Arabic fluency is a must.

Role summary
The Base Management team is part of the Subsurface department in the field. It consists of 5 teams managing around 1.4 MM bbls/d of production from 650 active wells, and a waterfload of 1.6MM bbls/d from 15D active wells. The field consists of 50% ESP wells, and 50% Naturally flowing. There are around 320 ESPs producing around 600mbd of production. The ESP wells are anticipated to increase in number to 1500 ESPs within 10 years.
The ESP Application Engineer will be work alongside the vendor Application Engineers within Base Management and will receive day-to-day instruction from the Senior ESP Engineer. They will work to support the North and South teams in their daily workfJows using industry standard tools and processes. As well as helping to develop the PEs they will serve as a feedback loop for PEs to gain a greater understanding of the challenges faced by the vendors, Troubleshooting teams, and Wells teams. They will also serve to provide feedback to the wellwork teams on DIFA reports for inclusion into Post Job Analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example with a strong commitment to HSE and integrity.
  • Quality Assurance of ESP Well Modelling process
  • Work with PEs to ensure ESP Models are correctly matched and model QC
  • Integrate dashboards, matching and optimization tools into workflow
  • Ensure that latest set points are updated in corporate database FMD
  • Use SubPUMP for ad-Hoc technical support and ESP Troubleshooting
  • Responsible for MOC where ESP Pump design change is required due to operational reasons
  • Responsible for monitoring ESP well performance during pre-commissioning while rig is on- location, and deciding if the precommision objectives have been bet and rig can be released
  • Pump size forecasting
  • Coordinate with ESP Squad Reliability Engineer to understand outcomes of DIFA, and feed these back in to the Post Job analysis process
  • Summarise prevailing trends found within DIFA, feed these back to the PE community.
  • Work with Operations (ESP Advisors, Troubleshooting team) to understand constraints on resources and feed these back in to the ESP Design process
  • Work with Operations ESP Advisors to understand limitations on particular wells and feed these back to PEs during Optimisation process
  • Delivery and coordination of PEFA reports
  • Delivering ESP Failure notifications to the business after confirming with all parties
  • Maintain relationship between ESP Squad (Subsurface ESP Team Lead) and PE community by flagging prevailing trends which may impact on the ability of the business to deliver overall ERP objectives


Key requirement

  • Relevant 0&G & ESP industry experience, to include ESP related operations at rig site.
  • Comfortable working with Subpump and Prosper for ESP well design, optimisation, and troubleshooting
  • Experience managing ESP vendors is desirable
  • ESP DIFA capabilities is desirable
  • Excellent skills in interpersonal relations and communication.
  • Demonstrated strong decision making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills Degree level.
